Assessing Student Understanding
As students work in collaborative teams to complete their projects they will be assessed both formally and informally. Informal assessment will include, but not be limited to, casual conversation with groups, individual student interviews, completion of project worksheets and an outlined checklist system. More formal assessments will come in the form of rubrics covering each category of a given project, up to and including the final project presentation, as well as a pre- and post-test over the unit concepts.
Technology will play a role in these assessments, as students may be asked to blog about their progress, engage in online checkpoint quizzes and complete in-class assessments using our classroom iClicker response system.
